Meet the Characters

Taiwo: In the Yoruba culture, the twin born first is given the name Taiwo (or Taiye). It means “have the first taste of the world.” Taiwo certainly acts the part of the older twin sister. She is very organized and studious, and often chastises Kehinde for not focusing! She’s the researcher and organizer for the duo, and she has the uncanny ability to keep things focused and in perspective.

Kehinde: Kehinde is the name given to the second-born twin in the Yoruba culture. Although the last to arrive into the world, Kehinde is actually considered the eldest twin in the Yoruba culture, because she sent Taiwo out into the world to test it out first. Kehinde is the relaxed, free-spirited risk-taker of the two. She is the adventurous, highly enthusiastic, innovative twin with an overactive imagination.

Big Sister: As her name suggests, Big Sister is the twins’ only older sister. She is a teenage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) junkie with high intuition in Robotics and Software engineering. She’s very mature and insightful for her age and is often the one to play peacemaker when her twin siblings have their -inevitable- disagreements.
Mommy and Daddy: Mommy and Daddy are the parents of the twins and Big Sister. Both parents care deeply for their children. Big Sister and the twins would describe their parents as strict, protective and helpful. Both parents work full-time, love to cook, and enjoy educating their children.

Beckles: Not only is Beckles the school jokester, he is also Taiwo’s tormentor. Beckles is an avid drawer, and happens to be the most talented sketch artist in school. However, he is more interested in making fun of Taiwo and getting the attention of the class than furthering his art skills.

Danielle: Danielle is Kehinde’s second best friend (Taiwo is Kehinde’s first best friend) and they share a few classes together. Danielle is energetic and outgoing, and struggles to do well academically in school.
